Skullcandy

Description

It's been a while, I know folks. I have started at art academy, and I've been rather busy in life in general as well. Some personal stuff going on which takes up a lot of my attention atm.
But anyway, this was an idea I got (out of the blue) while working on an art assignment for school. It is pure coincidence I had a bag of candy on the same day I started photographing some skulls. I munched some candy as I did so, and realized the huge contrast between the happy candy and the rather morbid skull, and decided to try out what it would look like if I'd combine the two into a little "photoshoot". Lots of pictures and experimentation later, this is what came out (my favourite).
I really like how this one worked out, and also feel like there's much more into this photo than what I thought when I just shot it. You got a contrast between colourful/happy <-> morbid/death, but it also natural <-> unnatural, and it raises questions on why the skull is there, why it's on top of candy, etc. Sugar kills, humans kill animals, modern society kills both humans AND animals, colourful candy is a typical thing of this age, also causing many of the health problems of this age.
I think that, plus the lightning, makes I feel like this is a good picture!

Feel free to comment and share your opinion. Do you agree? Disagree? Have another view? Lemme know! :)

Took this with an ordinairy phone camera, a desk lamp and some sheets of paper to block out the environment. Nothing fancy. Really the kind of stuff anyone has lying around.

Oh, I rather like it. The contrast between the skull and the sweets is indeed very odd and inspiring :) Great job on the lights too, except maybe that they're a bit to bright. You're sort of losing detail on the skulls nose-bridge.
